Default Fbody LS1 Parts on 5.3 z71

hey all. i'm doing a build up on my camaro and i'll be having the stock parts from it left over. i'm planning on takeing the intake and cam out of my car and putting it in my truck. i have hptuners for both so tuning wont be a problem. at the same time i'm planning on porting the heads in my truck. is this stuff going to be a noticable difference? i have seen the specs for the cam in both my car and truck, and the car cam is quite a bit bigger. i dont have any money to buy new stuff for the truck cause its all going into the truck. but will i be able to see a noticable difference out of the work?

my truck is a 03 silveraldo, 5.3l, ecsb, 4x4, completely stock. i have the capabilities to fab up a new intake tube for the lower height of the intake so that wont be a problem. but is it going to be worth it? thanks.

I have the same question, some stock parts from my 99 Z28 that I wanted to put on my 2003 5.3 Yukon.

Is the cam swap even worth it?

some stuff will have to be modded to make the ls1 intake work. the fuel rails and pump are the major issues. its not worth the hastle if your only planning to use a stock ls1 cam.

not worth it unless your goin to run a very big cam and 6500+ rpm

search my name...i put an ls1 intake using ls1 injectors, aluminum fuel rails, steel braided lines, and an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, looks pretty neet all together..you will also need the pigtails for the injectors off the fbody..

I agree with the above, the truck manifold is a pretty good piece and unless you plan on running a high RPM cam the LS1 intake won't buy you much. If you had an LS6 intake and at least a hot cam I think you would see some nice gains. If you could get your hands on another LS1 fuel rail and the pigtails for LS1 injectors that would probably be the easiest way to go. You can normally find stock rails for $25-$50 on Ebay. Not 100% sure but you may need a fuel pressure regulator to switch the two also.

What if you keep the stock truck intake and just have an extra stock LS1 cam (1999 Z28) to use? Is that swap worth it?

I wonder what that cam and a re-tune would get me power wise (I also have airbox, headers and no cats, and a QTEC dump before the muffler).

the cam will help the power, but not as much as a good aftermarket cam. if its worth the time and effort on your part to gain a few cheap ponies go for it

I wouldn't go through the extra work for a stock LS1 cam, maybe one of the 02 and newer corvette ones but that is about it. I'll tell if you want some performance cheap I had outstanding luck with the GMPP LS1 hotcam. Not sure how it would run in a truck but it put me into the 11's with my car with a 3700+ pound race weight. Decent cam kit for the price but you can take opinions all day long, everybody has one. What you need to figure out is what you want your truck to do and how much you are willing to spend before you even touch it.
