Filled my Truck with some corn gas
So I've been wanting to try E85 lately. A place here in Phoenix finally started selling it to the public, I went and saw them yesterday for a fill up. It is 12 miles from my house and the price was $2.96 compaired to the mid $3.50's of super unleaded, and according to the sticker on the pump, it is 106 octane.
I only made minimal changes to my tune since my truck is not flex fuel. I just set the stoich to 10:1 since that's the lowest the limits would let me in EFILive even though E85 is supposed to have a stoich of 9.77. I also added a couple degrees of timing to most of the table and since it has a higher octane and set up my B3647 (commanded fuel vs. rpm table) to allow for short term corrections. I usually run it in open loop most of the time with a lean cruse built in to it.
Well my WB is still configured for gas, and I haven't reprogrammed it for the E85, so it still gave me gas AFR so I used it for a reference. First few miles it was running about 10% rich, since I still had about 2-3 gallons of gas in the tank and it wasn't true e85. I raised the stoich in my tune up 10% to 11:1 and it fell right in line. The stock O2's are switching just like they should and my WB is right on what it was with strait gas.
First impressions are good with the SOP feel, and I think I can add some more timing as I didn't get any real KR. I did record a log for you EFILivers to have a look. I did make a quick WOT run in high boost (10psi) and it run up to 110% dc on the injectors (42lbs/hr) at 5800, but it didn't go lean. I have a set of 60's some where, if I can find them
It will be interesting to see how it does affect mileage and performance. I'm gona run a few tanks though it just how it works

I am expecting a 10-20% loss in fuel mileage any way cuz there is less energy content in a gallon of E-85 but it's higher octane.
