Finally bought EDIT
Just to let you guys know I finally bought LS1 Edit. Now I have enough crap in the shop to really change the way this truck wil run forever.
Things on shelf and ready to install:
LS1Edit
Cam
Springs
pushrods
re install cutouts
QTP's
Yank 3400
Whipple
Nitrous (maybe, not sure I want to risk it and see if the 4.8 will handle both)
Transgo (may sell see next list)
Still on the need list:
ET streets
Tranny rebuild
In all honesty, I won't have this done by the Spring Break Shootout. The tranny is going to be costly.

Sounds like your on your way to being quick!
I'm gonna get EDIT this week too, or go through the steps to get my new truck added to my cable. A cam should be here tomorrow, springs hopefully end of this week or next week.
If you install a TransGo in that tranny, be sure you take out all the TQM, it will hurt the tranny in the long run with the shift kit and stall I think. That was my finl justification for getting it now.

LS1Edit is great! (carputing )
Edit is worth it if you have some patience and want to learn about computer controlled engines while you tune. You will have to spend some time logging and analyzing data with a scan software like Autotap or EFILive. Then you go back and use Edit to make changes based on the data you have logged.
On the other hand, if you want quick results with no learn time involved, go with a custom tune. The handheld programmers produce some gains, but they are conservative in their tuning to account for a wide variety of customers with different mods. IMO a custom tune (with Edit or otherwise) will always be better than a handheld reprogrammer can give you.

Just got off the phone with Speartech to order my benchtop cable. Now ... I will have to wait 2-3 days for CarPuting to email me back so I can send the cable off to get my new truck added.
04sierra, If you go with EDIT, expect to do the same about the cable. You will have to also get some kind of logging software. I'd recommend EFILive over AutoTap. You will also need a laptop to use all this with. EDIT is great if you know what to do with it, and will let you go a long ways with your mods, where the programmers like the HPP3 will just let you update it when a preset program.
If you plan on doing more than a cold air intake and exhaust, maybe headers too, I'd go with EDIT, but if you plan on keeping it relatively simple just grab a used HPP3 off of eBay or something.

The tranny is not going to last long enough to install the kit. It already slips pretty bad at WOT. Just ask some of the guys that were at the Thunder Shootout. It's all about the money....If Centry Automotive will or will not use the Transgo or use there own stuff. That's why I may sell the kit. I'm not wanting to skimp on the tranny, so I may be looking in the $2500 range to get one bulletproofed. Future plans down the road may include a 409 or something. Plus I don't really want to even install the converter when I know the clock is ticking on grenading the tranny.

I tell you what, I freaking hate slipping/broke transmissions. Why don't you wait to use edit and get a 4L80E. There are some on Ebay selling for $1300-$1500 with core charge included. Sell your slipping 4L60E to someone as a core and make a few hundred. Then buy the Speartech adapter and have them reflash your computer. I think once the computer is reflashed with the 4L80E tune that you can't use EDIT if it's already locked to the original, you'd have to purchase another vin. I really am not sure about that though, maybe parish8 can answer that. You already can weld so all you'd have to do is modify the trans mount location for the 80E and send the driveshaft out to have it shortened. Of course that PYE3400 converter wouldn't work anymore so a new verter would have to be added to the cost minus what the 3400 sells for. Oh yeah, that shift kit could be sold also but, you might want to buy one for the 80E also. I think some of those Ebay trans come with performance clutches and shift kits installed for a little extra.
I think in the end it could actually be cheaper than buying a beefed up 4L60E which will inevitably fail if you put enough power behind it. The 2wd swap should be easier than what parish8 went through and that didn't seem to bad.
PS - You're gonna like EDIT once you start fooling with the blower and fueling stuff.
