Finally an LQ9
I will definitely have enough money to finally get an LQ9 this year. Keeping in mind that I need to stay emissions legal for Cali I am going with a custom 224/224 .600/.600 110, LS6 heads, LS6 intake, 3200 stall, and either 4.10s or 4.56s. Does anyone have any opinions on this setup or suggestions that I might want to change?

i dont know how well the 110 lsa will keep you emmisions legal in that tree hugger state..those tree huggers hear that and they will prolly fail you as they go to pull it in the shop..maybe a 116-119 lsa cam...sound closer to stock but still rip

that size cam in a 6.0 will be fine with a 110 lsa. just needs to be a -4 retarded ground to pass emissions. If it was a bigger cam like a 112 it would need to be a 112 with a -4

Can you pass smog without the factory 5.3L in the truck? My dad has an 86 and he want's to put a LQ9 in it, but doesn't know if it fly with the smog place. I suppose it would be easier for you, just swap stickers.

A 110 is going to lope like crazy and all the overlap is going to let raw fuel pass right through the cylinder into the exhaust. It will be much tougher to pass emissions with that same cam on a 110 compared to a 116 or so. The tree huggers don't like overlap, lol.
If you keep the lobe center at 114.5, you will gain overlap when you increase the duration of the cam over stock. Emission requirements are hard to deal with when trying to make power
