I had the 50 series SUV muffler on my 06 with the 5.3 and that lasted all of 2 weeks. At WOT it sounded like a wind blower, no rumble, throatiness, whatever. The only time it sounded good was while cruising. When I changed it out for the Magnaflow, I actually felt a small difference in my SOTP meter(not huge but enough), and the sound improved throughout the RPM range. We put the Flowmaster on my bro's Ford F150 and it sounded better IMO. My .02

heres words of advice........dont believe the hype

also he asked about flowmasters, he didnt ask for an opinion of someone about another brand of muffler

I don't think Magnaflow is listed in this flow test, but it does show that the Flowmaster 2 and 3 chamber mufflers basically suck compared to Hooker, Borla, Dynomax, and some Glasspacks(now that's pitiful). I think Flowmaster is the most overrated product ever made, and this flow test proves that.

I have an Original 40 on my S10 and I love it. If Flowmasters are so bad, why when the guys on Horsepower had to put mufflers on the SuperNova project, did they gain horsepower. This was compared to open headers on a 572R crate motor. I know I get complements on the way my V6 sounds, and a V8 sounds 100 times better. One of the guys at work has a Magnaflow on a new Hemi Dodge, and it pops a little to much for my taste.

It really depends on your definition of 'better'. My personal opinion, of the two, would be the 50 series.

I have a 50 single in dual out on my truck and I like it a lot. With the new heads/cam/lt's it's very loud.

not saying this is what happened, but its a safe bet. flowmaster sponsors the show and they can make that dyno say anything they want i wouldnt badmouth a product if they gave me parts for free AND paid for part of my television series

Well if you want FLOWMASTERS and loud, the 40's are louder than the 70's. I had dual 40's and liked them but got annoyin quick. To each his own.

I got dual 40s on my truck, and I like them because they are loud. The resonance is getting annoying, and I think one of trianglar baffles in the muffler has come lose, keep on hearing a rattling noise and it's coming from one of the mufflers.
