Zippy, my FLP only shifts really hard at high throttle (and then my fillings come right on out). During normal cruise, it shifts pretty smoothly.

The trans guy at one of the local dealerships here builds up trannys on the side and has built several for some of my f-body friends(one of them is in the high 10's others are in the 11's) and they are holding up great. I will be having him rebuild mine will all hardened parts, 5 pinion planets and better clutches when the time comes. If it wsnt for his rep and the money I will be saving with him, I would be going the FLP route.

that must be part of the vacuum controled pcs system. that would certainly make things much more comfortable for most drivers.

with as much stall as 2bseen is running it would seem that everything would feel soft. how was the 65E working when you pulled it out? (2bseen).

from talking to chuck at flp i get the idea he spends a lot of time checking all the little details and clearances. i am not saying he is the only one that can build a tranny but i think there is more to it than just useing the right parts.

chuck also has some first hand experience working with the special needs of higher hp 5000lb trucks. the extra weight we have requires some different settings and parts than the cars.

Agreed there are people who are trans. assemblers and then there is trans builders. I like the 60/65 and have seen it live through quite a bit.

dont knock the 80 too hard

02denali ran some impressive na 5.3 times with his 80
compared to his 60

but when mine goes
its level 5 time just for the simplicity
and good reputation

On the shift firmness thing I think theres a point its too hard
and you break things and a point its too soft and you burn things

the 1 thing I dont understand is the flp level 5 has 2 washers
better bands ,clutches etc

my stock transmission with 0 washers shifts plenty hard

seems like the level 5 would break windshields
with all that
or is there a reason behind this?
