FLP trans. question. Parish?
Hey guys. It has been a while since I got out of truck mode, but now I am back into it. I have decided from what I have read in the forum, to go with the Radix supercharger.
But first, I want to change my rearend and transmission. I have heard a lot of good things about FLP. I have heard a lot of bad things from transmissioncenter.(raptors). I called FLP and they have a Level 4, and a Level 5 which is 4L65E. Level 4 is $2200 and Level 5 is $2850. The difference is the Level 5 has hardened input and output shafts and reaction shaft with a bearing and of course the 5 pinion planet gear. is this worth $650 for the Level 5?
Am I making a good decision going with FLP?
By the way I dynoed 317 rwhp after my cam install. I am assuming the Radix with about 10 lbs. boost will give me 400-450 hp? Sound right? So if that is correct then that is what I need a tranny to hold up. I drive fairly rough too!
Please give me your opinions and hopefully a lot of experience. Maybe Parish will help.

FLP rocks, Chuck stands behind his product 100%. if your doing it you might as well get the level 5.
the only thing i can say is if you want to go crazy like me skip the 4l60 build and swap in a 4l80e.
if you keep it under 600hp or so the built level 5 is a great way to go. i didn't have trouble with my level 4 untill i got to 10psi and a 100shot on a 6.0 and chuck designed some new parts after that happened so who know how far one will go now. that was in a 4wd ext cab too with GOOD traction.

hey, did a say Chuck stands behind his product!!
might as well tell you more about that. i broke my tranny 2-3months after the warrenty was up. i was brutal to that unit all the time. like 30+ 500-600rwhp full throttle launchs a week. i told Chuck what i was doing and he told me to push it as hard as i want. after it broke i decided to change projects. Chuck went ahead and fixed it and even shiped it to the person i sold it too. no charge. i think he never even charged me for shipping on the thing.
BTW, i now have a FLP built 4l80e. told chuck i was doing a built 408 with a t88 and was hoping for 1000rwhp someday. he isn't scard.

After recent posts about Century here close to Houston, I'm pretty much convinced that no local shops are worth risking my money. So when the time comes I'll be ordering a FLP Level 5 I dont like the idea of shipping/uninstalling the trans if theres a problem, but it sounds like they're pretty trustworthy.
My long term goal for the truck is reliable 11's - maybe 500hp or so - and it sounds like the Level 5 could easily handle it.

yay man. i am suppose to take my 60 back to century for them to see. we will see what they sayy. i am getting a 80e built for me by jag performance in san antonio. joe is very good on trannies. i have seen a lot of his work. i figure after two built 60e's im not going to go thru it again. i doubt i will push the limits of a 80. i figure i want to make it to where i dont have to worry about it again.
