Cool Foam pads under intake manifold on 4.8L

Anybody know what the hell those foam pads are for under the front and back of the 4.8L/5.3L intake manifold?

To keep things quiet under the intake amongst other things. Keeping birds, small animals and bugs from living under the intake.

I feel sorry for any small animals that try to live under my intake.

That's a nice drop you got on that truck. Mine is just like it but an 05' with ss wheels. I lowered the fron with springs, but the 2" shackles in the back aren't enough. I guess I'm gonna have to get some hangers...

Ya just think, a mouse could use the space under the intake as a place to take a nice warm poop. That is why I left mine in there as well.
