Default Forged 5.3 doable?

I know I will hear "just go 6.0l", "get a 5.7" etc.
I really don't want or need more displacement , I just want an engine that will survive boost better and be reliable at 10-12psi even if my tune is not perfect for all weather conditions, and run on pump gas.
Who makes the components necessary to go this route and what parts off the high performance or stock shelf can be used?

Thinking pistons, rods, valve springs, push rods.
Anything else needed?
Thanks guys.

valve springs and pushrods are easy, off-shelf parts

pistons will be custom as will the rods i believe

might try asking 8ALTNG he had a forged 4.8

Rods and pistons can be bought off the shelf just need to bore your block to 3.902 which will make you have an iron LS1 basically.

I kind of checked this out but found the costs to be comparable to just building a 5.7 or 6.0

This is the way to go. Makes no sense to keep the stock bore when you can bore it out and have every option available to you.

You don't need to forge it if you only plan on running that for boost. Turbo8 has put 25 psi on a stock 5.3 and Parish has done the same on a 5.3 but he was using 114 octane or something. I safely put 10 lbs on my completely stock 5.3 using meth. Never had any problems. I'd say run meth and get a decent and safe tune and you'll be good at that boost. This is just my .02 cents.

I also ran 12lbs for the summer months, no meth, no probs. Its all about the tune.

I think the problem is that nobody makes an off the shelf forged piston for a 5.3. Sure you could have some custom made, but that cost more money just to keep it a 5.3. Like the other have said, if you have it bored to 5.7 (about 12 bucks a hole last time i checked) then you have lots of options for off the shelf forged pistons.

So boring out to a 5.7l will enable me to use off the shelf parts, pistons and rods?
What if anything would have to be done to the heads with the new cylinder bore size? Will it be ok to run as is, or will mods really need to be done to make that right?
Now if mods to the cylinder heads need to be done what will that effect, and so on?
Just trying to get the big picture here before taking the plunge. It always seems there is more to the picture than it first starts out as.
