Forged 5.3 doable?

I'm gona be building one of these later this summer and am going to be using forged flattop LS1 pistons, LS2/LQ9 6L rods w/ARP blots, 5.3 block and crank and some 317 6L heads with ARP studs. Comp should be around 9-9.5 depending on the head gaskets I use, haven't done all the math yet. Should be a good reliable 15psi motor

Stock bore on a 5.3 is 3.779. Stock bore on a 5.7 is 3.898. They both use the same rods and crank. Unless you have a lot of money to throw at this, I'd stick to using an iron 4.8/5.3 block. Guys are proud of aluminum 5.7 LS1 blocks, lol. It should be plenty strong, many have built iron block 5.7 out of 5.3's. Brian (aka BlownChevy) just put one in his truck.
I guess it's time to start looking for a engine candidate in my area and pricing everything out.
