Default Fresh install of a LQ4, some problems...

On my first drive with the 6.0L I developed a loud knocking sound coming from the engine. Now I had already started the truck and ran it up to operating temp. multiple times, just never drove it. I pulled the driver's side valve cover and found one rocker bolt was extremely loose.

Upon assembly, I torqued all the rocker bolts to 24 ft-lbs and called it a day. I pulled the rocker off, pulled the pushrod and made sure it was straight then torqued it back down. Ran the engine in my driveway off and on for about another 15 minutes, but I never drove the truck. Now it's starting to make the same sound again.

I haven't checked if it was coming from the exact same rocker yet, so I don't know for sure. But I wouldn't be too surprised if it is. What should I do?

Loc-Tite wouldn't work worth a **** unless I cleaned all of the oil out of the threads on the head. Should I try and do that and re-assemble? Or should I increase the torque to something like 26-30ft-lbs?

What do you guys think?
Thanks
Brady

In case you're wondering it is a 2004 LQ4.
I used my factory intake manifold and TB. Running Thunder Racing 7.4" pushrods, Patriot Gold dual springs, and a Patriot cam (226/226 .585/.585 112lsa)

huh??
Roller cam and no nuts on the rocker arms, just bolts.
check your rocker arm bolts and yeah its not a bad idea at all to loc-tite the rocker bolts. Some guys even go the extra step of torquing once, rotating the engine a few times and then re-torquing the rocker bolts.

I have never torqued them. I always just tighten the bolts down really good with a 1/4' ratchet. You can tell when the valve starts opening from the tension on the bolt, then you can tell when the bolt hits bottom. Just make sure it's tight from there and you shouldn't have any problems.
