Default Fuel pressure requirements

I'm working on a 96 Suburban with 5.7 Vortec.
The rig wants to sputter and stall then quite.
What fuel pressure should I be seeing?
Will it be steady or fluctuate while driving?

If its a 96 then that means its the first year w/o TBI right? If so, you should be seeing around 60 psi. I'd replace the fuel filter and then check the pressure.

i got a 98 and installed an electronic fuel pressure gauge. on cold start i get 65 psi, on warm idle, 68, driving very regularly 69 and harder passing style accelerating is 70-71, according to all data our trucks should be seeing around 55 or so psi idle and a max of 65 wide open. i bought a new fuel regulator but with Chicago winter, yea haven't replaced it yet. uh, but yea change that fuel filter and maybe check the throttle position sensor for very smooth electrical changes. go to you-tube and search how to check throttle position sensor. basically its a variable resistor and when you take a multi-meter to the prongs and slowly move the tps through the range its supposed to be smooth number changing. just an idea. those things regulate quite a bit of things. if that goes bad your trans can shift weird, motor can run like poo because the computer isn't seeing proper throttle position and doesn't give adequate fuel/air mix and so on. start with that then give us some update.
