Default G80w/3.73 or Auburn w/4.10?

I need some help guys. I have come across a hell of a deal on a newly rebuilt rearend with 4.10s and an Auburn posi. I currently have the factory G80 with 3.73. I have not heard a whole lot on the auburn units and wanted to get some opinions on them. Also wanted some opinions on the 4.10s. My truck is a daily driver so take that into consideration.

If you drive much in OD than it could hurt your mileage. Round town it would be a blast though. Auburn is a big name

For a normal truck, stick to your current gears, for a performance truck, 4.10s would probably help.

Its a 10% lower gear, so it will feel like 10% more torque from a start. It will aid you launches, getting to the powerband sooner, and finishing a 1/4 mile run in a higher rpm. The auburn is a good product. Install and parts for 4.10s and a the auburn would cost you around $1K. If you can get the whole rear for a good price, its worth it.

The 4.10's would be fine for a daily driver.I think your tire diameter is about the same as mine,i have a 29.4 inch tire.At 70mph im turning just at 2300 rpm's,80mph-2500rpm's.It will hurt gas mileage.but i don't think enough to worry about.I tend to jUst cruise about 65mph,2000 rpm's most of the time when i'm on the hwy.

Thanks for the replys guys. I think I am going to go ahead and do it. I am swapping rearends with a good friend (which I trust comletely) because he is trading in his truck for an f-bod. He just had this rearend built a few months ago for $650. I am also swapping him my tranny for his built one with a 2600 PTC converter along with $500. I already have all the bolt ons as well as the spray and plan on getting a cam in the near future. I believe both the tranny and the rearend will be something I will have to do eventually as I keep adding the power so I think I would be crazy to pass this deal up. Dont yall think so?

I have an Auburn and 4.10s and love it, I had a G80 and 3.73s before. I couldn't tell alot of difference in mileage. I wouldn't give a G80 to my worst enemy, a lightning owner, now that have an Auburn. Mine is also a daily driver.

4.10's and the Auburn would be my choice if you can get a hell of a deal that your talking about. I love my Auburn/3.73 but will probably go with a 4.10 this summer. BigTex was right on the money on that price. My Auburn/3.73's hit right at 1k parts and labor included. MTI prices.
