Default gear swap ?

Hey guys I have a question what do I need to do when swaping out gears? Can I just swap them and do nothing to the computer or will it screw it up. What are my options?I don't car if the speed is off alittle, going from 342 to 373 in wife tahoe. Is the a speed odometer calibrator ? Thanks in advance

Find a used Hypertech tuner for that year Tahoe and change the ratio in the computer.Just make sure that the previous owner has removed the tuning from his truck or the tuner will be useless. Then you can even fine tune the computer for different tire sizes.

You won't screw up anything. Your speedometer will off about 9% going from 3.42 to 3.73. If you are not seeking any performance gains, just get a used Hypertech and make the changed with that. If should not run you more than $150 for a used one.

My ABS light lit up like a christmas tree after my gear swap. I could even get a mile down the road before it new something was up. You need to recalibrate the computer! Handhell, custom tune....what ever, it needs to be done.

Why are you going to the trouble of doing a gear swap if you're just going from 3.42's to 3.73's?

I actually wanted to do a 410 but my brother has a set of 373s. How much improvment will I see going from 342 to 373 or 410 gear. It is a real turd off the line, but pulls pretty good when it gets rolling around 25-30mph.

I went from 3.42s to 4.10s and my speedo was off by about 26 mph. I had to almost hit the rev limiter to hit 70. I had ABS lights too, a tune took care of that though. I would say go for it, 3.73s aren't much of an improvement but they are a gain, you will definately notice it.
