Default gears gears gears

sup all, well i have a little question about gears.
first of all ive got 3.42's im thinking of upgrading them,
but i dont know to what. heres the thing, its my daily driver i drive
bout 70 miles a day. so i dont know what would be my best option,
i was thinking conservative like 3.73's but was thinking 3.90's or 4.10's
but dont know i NEED YOUR OPINIONS PLZ.

Im sure snoman will be around shortly to tell you that you should be running 456s

I went with 4.10's and I still get like 389mptank, I really like the gears, they make an incredible difference, better get some good tires though...

Depends on your tire diameter but if you stay close to stock and have a stock converter 4.10's are not bad ... 3.90 are ok and 3.73's are only a very slight upgrade and probably not that noticable from 3.42's.

My truck gets a whoppin 9-11 mpg with my lead foot and the big converter ... i drove 10 mins to work and have a company car so its no big deal. 70 miles in a day i might say go 3.90's

Remember you will need some tunign to remedy your speedo

I will bet not too but I will say stay away from 3.90's because they are mostly made by Richmond and not very high quality gears (tend to be noisy). Stick with standard types (ie 3.73 or 4.10) as quailty is better (more choices of brands) and the ECM will support these ratios as well natively with a reprogram.

Precision gear makes 3.90s and they are a very good gear set. Dont let that stop you if thats what you want

Precision is not a bad gear set but there is not direct ECM support fot 3.90 either and though the logic for the 3.90 is not bad, I would stick with industry (Detroit) standards for ratio selection. .

Yea and you would also have us all throw in 456 gears if it was up to you

I get about 12MPG with my 4.10s and 3200 stall because of my lead foot. But what's the point of mods if you don't use them to have a little fun?
That's why I bought a daily driver and use my truck as I did before, for fun. But now I don't have to put as many miles on it.
