Default Gears or TC?

I'm looking for better low end acceleration. My truck seems kind of sluggish. I'm thinking of 4.11 gears but maybe a higher stall TC would help. What's the price for installing new gears? Thanks,

It all depends on where you want to go with the truck. If you are planning future mods such as cam, etc, etc, you might want to go with tq converter. If you are going to keep the truck somewhat stock, I would go with gears. The only thing is you are talking about putting gears in a 4wd, that means twice the cost. You have to do front and rear. If your truck already has a factory locker, I would say 400 - 500 for gears, install kit, oils, and installation. But that is times 2, so around 1000. Gears made my truck alot of fun to drive.

yes, if the rear spins both tires you have a locker.

I'd just get the converter. It's cheaper and won't kill your gas milage. IMO the only time I would do gears in a 4x4 is if you're going to 4.56s or larger. From 3.73s to 4.10s isn't enough of a difference to warrant the $1300-$1500 price tag. <.. Prices for the swap here in Norcal

If I wasn't concerned with gas milage I'd do a 4.56 swap in a red hot second. Then again, I kinda like doing 60mph 1st gear drops with my 3.73s, 32" tires and 4L80E. LOL

It depends on what gears you have now! If you have 3.42's I would say get the 4.10's first and if you have 3.73's I would get the TC!

I Would Get A Convertor. I Changed My Gears From 342 To A 373 And Couldnt Really Tell A Difference. My Gears And Install Was 300 But I Have A 2wd. I Believe A Convertor Would Have Been A Better Buy My Way.
