new parts in.
the intake is a weiand x-celerator (I think that's the model) single plane intake with all identical plenums. we're going to take the intake and weld in bungs for the injectors. the injectors are stock 24#'ers I bought from Thunder550. fuel rails are actually gonna be some modified lt1 rails. the maf pictured is just a stock maf that was ported (got it for 15 bux so I cant complain). all the sensors shown were purchased from thunder550 too lol. the dist. is gonna be used in fabrication for the cam pos. sensor unit. just bought a junker off ebay for 20 bux so we could chop it up and modify it to our specs. the cam is in the box, its not a lunati its just a stock ls1 cam. lets see, the silver weld in bungs are 8AN and the red/blue fittings are 30* 8AN that we're going to use in fabrication for the fuel rails. also I have a 3/8 NPT to 8AN adapter for the fuel cell. stainless steel fuel line is a must. i dont know what else really. oh, zach made the fuel pump blockoff plate the other day. and btw, the sensors pictured from left to right is crank pos sensor, oil pressure sensor, and cam pos. sensor. just a few more parts and we'll have a EFI smallblock.
here's the pix

thanks for lookin

Jake, you are clearly a single man. Having time to fabricate all of that cool stuff in your spare time and getting away with throwing nasty old car parts on the bed.

Good luck with the project, keep us posted.

Lookin great Jake!!

BTW - That long sensor is the cam sensor, and the shorter of the two is the crank sensor. On the LS engines, the cam sensor mounts through the top of the block in the rear, and the crank sensor mounts through the side of the block.

PCM/harness will be here today around noon. at work I'm going to machine a tb plate adapter for the intake. I gotta find a fuel pump right now and also a TAC module with pedal. it's comin along, i'll post pics tomorrow of the parts and maybe the plate if I get it cut right, I'm thinkin about using 316L stainless for all the intake parts.
where do you work?

i used to work at a machine shop where i made all kinds of stuff on a waterjet out of stainless and other stuff.

thanks, Im just a gearhead like most everyone else on this forum. and I figure that right now since im still young (18) and I can afford to do stuff like this I might as well ya know.

nbred: about the bein single part, I live with my parents still since I just graduated high school lol. I do have a gf that i've been dating 3 years as of jan.4th. she knows I love cars, and I make enough to support the habit and take her out and all that fun stuff.

thunder: yeah I just remembered that the shorter one is the crank sensor. my buddy zach actually has a ls1 block with a thrown rod we've been takin measurements off of, the blocks have very very similar layouts, and the motor mounts are almost the same. I'll take some pix of that later this week to kinda help out the sbc-->ls1 swap guys. btw, i had a few lone star light's before postin that

ls1truckguy: I work at a metal fab shop called STI, Inc. its right off winkler between 45 and highway 3. We got the plasmatable back in may so we could burn out all the stainless for the gaurdrails we built for the Golden Nugget Casino in las vegas. everything turned out good, if yall go out there and look at any of the guardrails or handrails at the pool, that was our work . we really dont have any other cnc machines other than the plasma. we finally got a small lathe to machine small parts for our own use on. but, we have every metal fab tool you can dream of at the shop. its a good job for being in school, plus it pays better than my previous best buy geek squad job (yes I am a huge nerd).

updates for the project: I finally got a bigger toolbox, so im bout to stock that up with my tools right now. i still have yet to pick up the aluminum round stock from triple s steel, i'll do that after my final thursday. I'm glad to see people posting on my thread, I know it's not really that exciting for the people with genIII motors, but its some good hard info about the similarities/differences between the two blocks. I'm really hoping to put down some good power with doing the conversion. I actually found a genIII tune file that's based on a genI motor. its out of a 2000 GMC savana with a 5.7L. russ k from HPTuners' forum sent it to me. He told me it'd be a good base file to get ve, timing, and other stuff off of and transfer to another tune file but the more I looked at it the programmed firing order is a genI not a genIII. so Im just gonna flash that to the pcm and start with that.

more updates to come next weekend

got the aluminum today actually. gotta start machining the custom bungs at work tomorrow if I have time. anyone have any suggestions for fuel pumps and fpr's? i've looked at several and I'm thinkin of buying a MSD pump from summit (best deal so far) and maybe one of their B&M fpr's (they're a good deal too).

got a part in the mail today. I decided to try out some stock LT1 aluminum fuel rails since the layout is the same as the buggy. test fitted the injectors to double make sure they work, perfect fit. the injector bungs in the stock rails are a little angled by about a degree or so but we'll make it work. I need to machine the bungs for the intake this weekend and then maybe we'll start to do a little welding perhaps. I doubt it'll get all done over the break, but I'm hoping to be done with it by my birthday (groundhogs day). here's a pic of the rails I picked up off of tech. 50 shipped, and they're in damn good condition

Looks like things are coming together nice for you. I like the LT1 rails, but you should drill/tap them for AN fittings with braided line instead of the ugly stock tubes. I did an LT1 conversion for my old TA and it made it look a ton better. It also lets you use over the counter FPR instead of the higher priced LT1 specific crap. Of course it sounds like you already might have known that...
