Default GEN III or GEN IV

ok well i was planning on getting a 1986 shortbed and dropping in a 383, but i got shafted again, it took forever to find someone to give me a 2 grand loan since im only 18, now that i finally found a 86 shortbed in damn good condition for 2500 my mom decides to take my loan and use it as a down payment on a new house, so i get shafted bad, now shes pissed cuz im gunna just fix up my 01 ext cab, now shes more pissed since it used to be her truck until i started takin over the payments, anyways i better get to my question, i want to put a 6.0 in my truck either a gen III or a gen IV and is it easier to get parts for a III or a IV, and also are parts more expensive for the IV? is it worth getting? which should i get? i can get a brand new III for 3 grand even brand new with all the accessories, and a IV for 6 grand, lemme know fellas thx

probably a III would be the cheaper route altogether, if you're ok with not getting what the IV offers.

If they're anything like 5.0L ford motors, parts will be dirt cheap. Can't say from experience with that engine though.

Hmmm, someone please correct me if I am wrong. I think all 6.0's are Gen 3 engines. Currently, only the LS2 and LS7 in the C6 Corvettes are considered Gen 4 engines. As far as I know, all Gen 3 and Gen 4 parts are interchangeable. Anyways, your truck would be badass if it had a LQ9 6.0 out of a Silverado SS or Escalade. Maybe someday I'll get a LQ9 for my truck!

So would I be able to swap everything to the LS2 or would I have to buy new ****? Cuz I know on the lq9 its a direct swap but what about the LS2?
