Thanks for the info, awesome that you're already on it!
Im living this right now. The weight difference is 80-110lbs, depending on who you ask. I have a raw gen3 alum block I need to weigh and then we can know for sure. Anyway.... lets says its 150lbs

Does your truck ride different, steer different, brake different or accelerate different when you have a passenger? a couple passengers? I know the math is there. I am not denying it. I am however saying it doesnt matter on this scale.

Im putting an iron block in a C5. Im not thrilled about it, but I absolutely dont expect to feel the difference of 80-110lbs on the front axle. And this is in a 3000lb car, not a 5000lb truck. So the delta is even greater

put the LY6 in, nothing is gonna hurt

If you want to worry the 6.2 core I have ate every bearing in itself... I think the oil pump grenaded but I haven't taken it apart to know. The oil pump in the gen v is kind of a piece of **** to be honest but it is what it is. How many LS's have eaten themselves? My 09 LY6 HD cratered at under 60000 miles under warranty... lifters took some lobes off the cam. It happens.

I think about the passenger variable often. Especially when someone talks about 10 or 20hp.

However I've never drove around with someone on the hood of a car. Well actually I have......

Anyway it would prob ride better, maybe burn out easier but brake better as well. Could just move the battery to the trunk and transfer a good portion of weight, if I was that worried about it....

Ok, I thought they went AFM after 07 and that I had a "special" one. They just changed the designation when they went flex fuel, IIRC....

Thanks for correcting me. Well I have 60k on mine, lifters will get done anyway when I prob put a btr vvt cam in........

LY6 is the HD truck iron block 6 liter with VVT only... mine was a 2500HD. The L76 is the aluminum block mess with AFM and VVT used in the half tons... or oddly used under the same RPO in the G8 with AFM only.

L96 is the one I was thinking. L76 is a higher output engine.

Not really... the L96 was rated at 360 hp and 380 lb ft in the 2011 through 2019 HD truck. The L76 in a half ton from 07 to 09 was 367 hp and 380 lb ft. A big 7 hp with a snazzy Vortec Max door badge. The LY6 in 08 through 2010 was the same 360 hp/380 lb ft as the later L96. The first year in 07 had some goofy 353 hp/373 lb ft rating lol.

The L76 is just "better" because its block is aluminumnumnumnumnum lol.
