Getting a 15ft fiberglass bass boat tomorrow, use/don't use Tow/Haul?
It's a old 15' King Fisher 197x something model w/ 50hp Evinrude. The reason I'm asking is because I've never towed anything on a trailer before. Also, I have the billet servo w/ slightly increased line pressure (from LS1 Edit tuning).
What should I do? I'm not sure how much the boat weighs.

Shouldnt really need T/H mode...only thing it would be good for at this point would be holding shift points a little longer but you can do that yourself if you find it shifting earlier than you'd like. It should be able to pull around 5000lbs without too much effort and I doubt that boat weighs that much.

Clean out your PM's dood. I been trying to respond to you ... but I'll post it up here.
Copied directly from the PM I had ready to send:
That's kewl ... I'm trying like hell to get the last 3 remaining racers.
Congrats on the boat purchase. I don't know if it's to late or if your interested even, but I have a 2002 Glastron SX175 with a v6 and lots of other ****, all water toys and jackets. I'm trying to sell it.
It looks a lot like this one, but the deck is flat rather than raised at the heads like that.
Let me know if your interested, and I'll go into more detail about it.

your truck should be able to tow that boat with no problem. you won't even know it is back there unless you don't have enough tongue weight. i tow with my truck in 3rd gear and in Tow/haul mode. braking might be a problem if you don't have electric/disc brakes on the trailer. mine has them, that is probably because Ranger Boats are top of the line. my boat is close to 20' long and weighs close to 5000 lbs. here it is with a 200 Merc EFI, goes about 73 MPH

Hate to burst your bubble, but there is no way that tub will do 73 with the merc 200, as heavy as ranger boats are.
Get a gps aboard, and I think you'll see more like 62 or so. Nice tan though!

Nope
I own a 99 triton tr-21 bass boat, with a 225 evinrude ficht. The year I bought it, b&w boat mag ran a comparo on various 225 outboards strapped on the back of this same boat, with 1 guy and a half tank of gas. I believe the merc 225 was the slowest of the bunch, at around 65 (remember this was a 225, not a 200). The ficht 225 was the fastest, at 78 mph. The test was conducted at 1000 ft above sea level, and 75 degrees. I've gps'd my boat at 73 mph at 2300 ft and 95 degrees, so it's close. (The boats speedo showed 85mph).
Rangers are good boats, but notoriously heavy (although nowhere near 5000lbs). I believe they outweigh the tritons by 500-600 lbs.
With that info, and testing showing mercs speedos to be the worst of the factory speedos in regards to being accurate, along with the fact that your boat outweighs mine by at least 500 lbs, and 25 less ponies, I'd have to stick to my suggestion that your ranger does NOT run over 60 mph.
One other tip off would be the test the same mag did on the ranger boat you showed a picture of, with a merc 200-56 mph top speed, in pretty decent conditions.
I'm certainly not ragging on your boat, but those are the facts!
