Getting my 6.0 tomorrow, Should I freshen it up or just run it for now
Well I bought a wrecked 2006 2500hd 2wd today for my donor truck and I am going to pick it up in the morning. It has 202k on it and I know thats alot of miles but I know these engines are tough and run along time. Should I freshen it up before swapping it into my 2000? I'm thinking about just running it the way it is for now and saving up and building it later on like next winter. What would you guys do? Also being an 06 its bound to have been alot of high way miles I would think.

At the very minimum I would pull the rod & main caps to see how it has worn. I've taken a few engines with lower oil pressure and patched them up with new rod & main bearings.

I get them from my local machine shop that stocks Clevite brand. You can buy them on ebay as its a very common bearing size, just make sure to get a well know brand.

I've always used clevite in my old small blocks and never had an issue so I guess ill stick with them. What bolts have to be replaced because I know some are torque to yeild in these engines.
