gibbs 5.3 rebuild or 6.0, opinions wanted
I currently have an 05 gibbs silverado with the stock 5.3 and magna charger.
The only performance mods ive done is the volant CAI and ram air tube. Raising a family has taken most of my play money for the last 5 years so mod money was nowhere to be found. Truck is paid off now and i was fortunate to come into a different financial situation where mod money is no longer an issue. The truck has 150000 miles so im ready for a swap.My plans now are to order a 5.3 gm performance longblock, trick flow 5.3 top end kit (cam and Heads) TFS-K305-455-425 and install that on the new block with the tvs 1900, long tubes w cutouts and a built 4l80. Ive already had the 4l60 built last year but im skepticle of its potential and capabilitiy of holding the new 5.3/head/charger combo. My gut is telling me to opt for the 6.0 swap but im not sure. I think the gains would be minimal but i wanted some outside opinions. Im really not working on a budget but rather my needs/wants. I have a 4500 lb boat i wish to be able to pull with no problems but still want to spank most trucks i decide to pull away from. I dont want to get to radical, i still want a reliable daily driver if needed or grocery getter. Im also not sure if the valve configuration on the trick flow heads will be good for a charger. I intend on emailing trick flow tomorrow but regardless of what they say i was hoping to get some opinions. Thaks for any thoughts.

Sounds like $12,000 in performnace parts! If money isnt an issue.... sell that setup for what its worth "joe gibbs"! Buy a new truck with a 6.2L and put a $6,000 tvs on that and call it a day.... leaps ahead of anything you might be able to build.

Why buy a new long block only to turn around and swap the heads and cam? I see new/low mile 6.0s and 6.2s on ebay all the time, toss on your blower, swap in a 4l80 and be done.

I've thought heavily on the 6.2. My biggest concerns is the computers/harness swaps. I'm not sure of what is entirely involved with 6.2. But I'm going to do some more research.

Christ! What was your monthly payment?
For what you want, I wouldn't spend $2500 on the trick flows. Beauty of forced induction is you don't need the high dollar heads and intake to make good power.
I'd probably just run a blower cam in the 5.3 and boost it with a kenne bell s/c. Maybe find some stock castings that would lower the static compression. Run it until the 5.3 dies. Then think about a rebuild or 6.0 swap.
