Well considering I will never ever screw around with bolts that break off in the heads again, I see these as a good investment Im pretty sure you can get these cheaper at gmpartsdirect, I believe $42 was full retail. When you look at it though, it's still cheaper than stage 8 locking bolts and stuff like that

They aren't studs, but if you want something that will not loosen, guaranteed, check out Stage 8 hardware.

I have the stage 8 bolts like the pic a few posts up. The locking pieces were such a PITA that I threw them away after the second time I had to remove them. Since then, the bolts have never tried to back out by themselves. If I ever have to pull the headers again, I think I will go with these GM studs. Nice thread and thanks for the pics.

8.1Ls come stock with studs. THey were left in place on the passenger side and the header slipped right over them. On the drivers side it was a different story. No way to get the header past the studs with the steering shaft right there. Had to back the studs out to get the header on on the drivers side.

Oh and not all of us can get an account setup at a GM parts counter. Or can we??? How do I join the secret discount underground?
I work at a dealership (not GM), but just the fact that I work at one has always gotten me a discount. I just mention where I work and I get the "dealer discount". It also helps that I used to work with the parts manager of the GMC dealership 1/2 mile from where I work...I just zip there on my lunch and order what I need.

hirdlej, next time you go to the Chevy parts counter, just say that you work at "enter name of local dealership of your choice here", and you'll probably get away with it. I've had friends go to dealers to pick up parts and had them do that with no problems
