going to the dyno tomorrow/LS1 Edit
I have an 01 GMC Z71 with a 5.3L. I have lifted the truck and am running 35 inch SSRs with a 4.56 gear swap. The tires and the gears have the computer in a serious tail spin. The ABS is all FUBARed. I plan to make some engine mods in the future but as of now the engine is stock. I am going to a local dyno shop tomorrow that uses LS1Edit. They charge for a license up front and inital tune and then you just pay for dyno time after that. If you need to go back to do some computer work with out the dyno its free. I am going to have them correct for the tires and gears and then give it a basic tune to improve shifting and power. I had planned on waiting to do this until I had made some engine mods but its not going to cost me any more to go ahead and do it now and get the corrections for the tires and gears at the same time. So here is my question: On tuning a stock motor with LS1 edit, What all do I need to have done and what should I stay away from. The guy running the shop has plenty of experience but I want to go in there with your experiences in my back pocket so to speak. For example, What should be done with the Torque Management. I have heard that it should not be totally disabled if the tranny hasn't been upgraded. What sort of shift points should I be considering and what should I consider to radical? TIA

I would leave at least 50% TQMGT in there if you have nothing done to the tranny. Since you have no mods to the engine tuning should be pretty straight forward. Try to get some more timing if you are using 93 oct. You can raise the shift points a little, maybe a couple hundred rpms.
