It turns out the 4.8 I`m getting needs heads. What heads can I use on it and how much should I pay for them? As you can tell I`m new to these motors but as far as I can tell, they are the best thing going right now. I was plannng to turn it into a 5.3 but I think I mught just leave it a 4.8 and get it running and build another motor later. Also, what are the hp ratings for the 4.8 motors? I saw in the new 05 brochure it lists the 4.8 @ 285hp. Is that right? Were all 4.8`s 285hp? Also, I thought the 4.8 had iron heads. The one I`m getting has aluminum heads. Thanks guys.

4.8 and 5.3 are identical except for stroke I would just go ahead with a 6.0 if your going to go through the trouble of making the 4.8 a 5.3
or heck make it a 402 its all about the same amount of work

a 6.0 would be nice but the funds don`t allow it right now. It`s going in my 68 p/u. I`m planning to build another motor later but I`ll get it running with the 4.8. i just didn`t know if there were different casting number heads I need to look for. It`s pretty much just going to be a cruiser for now so the 4.8 will be fine. Thanks
