Default Good exhaust to get rid of drone?

When I bought my truck (2004 ExtCab) it had a Flowmaster with turndowns on it.

Driving it home 30 miles almost made me go crazy. I had an exhaust shop weld up some tailpipes and it sounds better but still drones at certain speeds.

This summer I plan on adding LT's and a new exhaust. I would like to go with an ORY just to keep the cost down but don't want something that is going to drone like crazy.

So, is there a good exhaust (Magnaflow, Corsa, etc) that will not drone with an ORY? Or will I need cats no matter what?

You may not have to add cats but cats are just resonators really.

If it was me and wanted to try something without changing the muffler, I would add a vibrant ultra quiet resonator before the muffler to help with the rasp and drone.

I had a off road y-pipe with no cats and a single magnaflow muffler on my sierra and it was super raspy with some drone. I bought that resonator and it basically all went away.

Never thought about doing that.

Are they pretty much a straight through design that won't mess with flow?

The truck isn't anything special right now but I do plan on a Cam over the summer then maybe a TVS down the road.

Yeah they are straight through design.

You can find them a tad cheaper through ebay or amazon or some other exhaust retailers. People use these or bullet mufflers before the regular muffler. I'd prefer an actual resonator like this one though.

Vibrant Performance ::.

My Corsa Sport is nice and quiet at cruise even after 100k miles. It's ridiculously loud at idle with my longtubes. Perfect combo IMO.

Adding any muffler in line should help take away some drone. If there is drone at a certain frequency, you can make a helmholtz resonator for that rpm.
