Default Is this a good idea?

I am planning on ordering a cam kit tomorrow from texas speed. Contents include: ms3 cam (237/242, .603/.609, 113lsa),Comp PRC Spring Kit, and Hardened Chromoly Pushrods. I have a 4.8l and this would be the first internal part i put on. My plans are to change it into an ls1 with a built bottom end for a later forced induction app. Any help as to which length of push rod should i get, too?

That is a HUGE cam for a 4.8. You would need to run a big verter(3800+). I would look at a cam in the mid 5xx lift and 22x dur. Is this going to be a daily driver..?

Just for a little longer. I am going to start getting stuff around for it. I was saving up to throw a 440 lsx in, but i am getting impatient and my buddy says a built ls1 will be good enough. I am just disappointed in how slow it was at the strip (17s). Im just looking for a push in the right direction.

Well if you plan to switch to a new motor, I would put a converter and a shot of juice on the 4.8 to get by and build the new motor on the stand. Seems to me tuning would be a pina and alot of bs to do only to pull it back out. JMO

Well i have a kit i can throw on. I was just worried my truck wouldnt handle it well. It has 150k miles. It still runs good and beats most stock cars, but i heard the sauce is a little harsh. Not sure of you altitude but we are up around 4,000 here. My friends truck is procharged 98 gmc 350 and it only runs a 15 untuned.

Thats almost twice as large as the largest 4.8 cam that I remember seeing anyone running. I don't think you'd be very happy with it at all.
