Are Goodyear Eagle GT II Tires Okay?
Hi Guys,
I'm getting ready to order chrome Silverado SS replica wheels and am considering Goodyear Eagle GT II tires in 285/50R-20 size. My truck is only driven on nice days so rain and snow performance is not important. What I am concerned with is ride smoothness, noise and dry traction.
I'd like to hear about your experiences with this particular tire.
Thanks,
Gene

Their not bad but by no way are they good either. alot of people have them becasue their cheap and kinda ok. if you just drive nice days get some real tires. I have some goodyears off of the ss their 275/55/20 and they have great traction, handle nice and are not priced bad. my next tires will probably be toyo or nitto or something.

I've heard they are notorious for hydroplaning. I did lots of research when I got my new 20" rims and read some really negative reviews on the GT II's. I decided jeopardizing my safety was not worth saving a few bucks, and ended up spending $30 more per tire to get Kumho Ecsta STX's. They've got 13,000 miles on them so far and they've been great.

I think they suck ***. Initially I thought they were about the same as stock for traction, but then I rode around on some stock tires for a couple of days. That was fun and interesting to say the least. Mine are 275/60/17. I will not be getting another set of them unless they are mostly giving them away. Wet traction is absolutely horrible. They corner great and break decently, but acceleration is a problem of a whole diffeent level. I can break them loose at a 15-20 roll with my cal tracs loaded.

I want something else, once I get a little extra cash, I will burn the shitout of these GTII's

I've gotten probably at least 30k mi on mt GTII's and they are the cheapest 20" tire out there you can buy because they are used as factory tires on lots of trucks like the H-D F-150. They perform like probably any factory tire, they are just a compromise for price. When I get my company car in a few months, I've been contemplating switching to a 555R or something similar in my tire size since I won't have to worry much about wear since it will have hardly any miles being put on it.

i have to say after i put on my gt II's dry and wet traction for me was far better than stock and i have never hydroplaned and have driven in the rain alot. I think they are a definite upgrade from stock but yeah i agree with the others there are definitly other tires that are better, but you cant really beat the price
