got the cam spec'ed from Pat G , need your help
hey guys, talked to Patrick and he speced me a nice cam
its for crewcab a 09 5.3 6l80e 4wd with bolt ons
specs are 219/222 .606”/.601” 111LSA
i was thinking that all i need is cam pushrods springs and a DOD delete kit
now after i researched it i see that almost every body change the head bolts to new GM or ARP bolts , also checked a tootall thread about a 5.3 cam swap and the timing chain damper was broken wich was a plastic pos
i dont wanna do the job twice so what should i buy?
these are the parts im planing to get
pac 1518 springs
ls2 vally cover
ls7 lifters and trays
7.425 chromemoly pushrods
should i get an oil pump too itll cost me an extra 175$ with shipping all the way here
should i buy a new timing chain?
should i get a 3 bolt cam and get the hole ls2 chain and dampner while im at it ?

Get Ls2 wedge for the timing chain instead of stocker and depending on miles on truck I wouldn't worry about oil pump but do need O-ring for pickup tube! From experience get the ARP head bolts! If you plan on decking heads then get 7.4 pushrods.

Does 09's come with vvt ? If do then you will need a vvt delete kit ,as far DOD delete goes ,this are the parts I got when I did mines.

MLS head gaskets GM 12589226
Water pump gaskets GM 12588372
Front oil seal GM 12585673
LS7 lifters GM 12499225

I have a L76 6.0l with a 222-230dur / 596-600lift / 112lsa cam. Of course it's always safer to get new pumps and gaskets but I reused my h2o pump gaskets. I actually reused everything but O-ring and head gaskets of course! But did change my oil pump to a new stocker cause of 78k milage. And yes oil pan will have to be lowered in the front. I sacrificed a 10mm wrench with heat and bent it to work so I didn't have to remove any of the bolts from half pan back! I also didn't remove radiator, just pushed aside.

The head and water pump gaskets shouldn't be reused, the oil pan needs to be drop about an inch to get access to the nut holding the pickup tube to the oil pump. You can save about $50 by getting GM head bolts instead of ARP , also you will need a new crank bolt . Why don't you do the work yourself? It's not hard just time consuming , I did mines without any previous experience , do a lot of research in here and other LS forums , I recommend a book that shows you everything about LS engines (How to build and modify GM Ls-Series Engies) by Joseph Potak, around $20 on amazon.

if you deck the heads then you cannot use 7.4 pushrods as they are for stock gaskets and stock heads. with a thinner head gasket or milled heads you need shorter pushrods
