Default Got the Motor out, questions on installation

Sure enough the #7 piston is burnt. While the 408 is getting built I'm going to put a set of pistons and cam in the 5.3 and run it for a while. I'm also going to do the 80e conversion.

Can i install the motor and bolt it down to the motor mounts then put the truck on the lift to install the trans. I just want to make sure that the it wont mess up the motor mounts with the engine sitting in there with no trans hooked up. Also, when would be the best time to install the headers, before or after the trans goes in?

I'm going to get the speed engineering 80e conversion kit. Has anyone had any experience with this kit? Is it complete?

You'll be fine with the motor in there without a trans.

As far as headers go, I would wait till after the trans. I have to pull my pass header to pull the starter off the motor anyway, yours may or may not be the same, but it's one less thing to get in the way. The header install won't be any harder after, so just wait.

I ordered the conversion from Speed Engineering and had a few problems with it (drivelines were the wrong length, sent me the wrong flexplate, crossmember was not spaced properly from the x-fer case). I had to have some modifications done here locally but SE stepped up and took care of me, reimbursed me for the added expense and everything. Great customer service. The kit is as complete as you order it.....but they do have everything listed that you need.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean about the drivelines being the wrong length? What are drivelines?

Any info from others would be great as well.
