Does it allow you to store your factory settings and go back to those is you ever need too?

Where did you buy the software?

The software is only available form www.hptuners.com

The package costs $510.00 shipped to your door

VCM Suite (the software) contains both editing software (which most agree is easier to use than LS1Edit) AND a data logging/diagnostic package that rivals EFILive in functionality and performance

You CAN d/l and save your stock tune.....and then edit to your hearts content

You can download and store as many .bin files as you like

The site that is most commonly used for LS1Edit help is www.ls1tuning.com ....MOST of the information on there WILL work with VCM Suite as well (some data might need conversion though)

Reading and Programming with VCM Suite is MUCH quicker than LS1Edit (less than 1 min. to read and 27 sec. to write....most '03's using LS1Edit require 10-15 min. to read and 5-6 min. to write)

The software IS NOT locked to one vehicle....it is locked to a MODEL YEAR of vehicle type....for example, if you and your friend own 2 '01 trucks...even if one is a 4.8 RCSB and the other is a 6.0 2500HD you can program BOTH of them with the SAME software/cable package.....and only pay ONCE for the software (c'mon Carputing......try to beat that), you COULD NOT however program an '01 Camaro and a '01 truck with the same software/cable...because those are obviously different vehicle types

I think I got all of the major questions there.....

hptuners may have a chance.

ls1edit is still #1

and the predator, is a great programmer, the best out of superchips HPP3. you can do alot with predator, you work in conjunction with diablo motorsport to work out a tune for your truck. in some instances that i know they have done better tunes over ls1edit.

Im thinking about dumping Edit. Im gonna have to get my PCM re-added to my cable... $300 dollars is what Carputing wants to do it!!! $200 dollars more and I can get a logging program with the tuning setup.

I guess you could log idle and see what codes your throwing if any... but you wont be able to log your runs...

Unless you got a REALLY long cable

I finally got to play with HPtuners today, I was up north at the cottage this weekend getting eaten alive by black flies.

HPtuners rocks, I can read the pcm in less than 2 min, and write in 27 sec. The scanner that comes with it is pretty basic, but they are working on adding to it, like there is a pcm control button on the scanner, if you click on it, it says feature not yet implemented, so there working on it. HPtuners can only get better.

What I have adjusted so far. Working off Predator tune
RPM limit
shift points
raised idle speed
Low and High octane table (Copyed high table to low -2)
added 2 degrees across high table
- LTFT (scaled IFR vs kpa using spead sheet)
tuning_1.0.2.xls
- PE table (X93%)
knock learn min rpm 7000
abuse mode 7000rpm
disabled ses on PO300

Did you notice any performance increases from those alterations. Do you have a experience with tuning prior to this?? How easy is it to learn?? Do you think you would have an adequate ability to tune for a supercharger with thise software?? Can it do logs of runs showing Knock, timing, and such??

I still haven't got my software........ but....... From the looks of this, I SURE DO miss chaning jets and advance springs.

It seems like you need a college degree in math and a certification in Excel to tune a vehicle.

EDIT:

DOh, I just realized I was on the last page of that Excel tuning guide. No wonder most of it was greek.

Whoever set that up was pure genius.
