I need to use the hughes to meet the requirements of the deal between Super Chevy and Hughes. I am at the mercy of them until this is cleared up. Who knows, maybe we will discover that there is another good converter out there. I know that people have had problems with every converter company out there, so I can't hold this against Hughes. I am sure it is a simple mix up, nothing that can't be fixed with a little Fed Ex.

Back in Biz! Few tech tips were needed for this converter that I have NEVER EVER heard of in my life. I am glad it is in, I will be installing the trans in a few and report back with my reaction.

BTW, I took 3 people to get this converter on.

Well, I have never had to push a converter on with 3 people before. I dont think this is a problem with the Yank, at least I have never heard or experianced it.

I called Hughes and they said that it is a tight fit over the o-ring on the input shaft and you really need to PUSH and WIGGLE the converter on. We did that and in about 3 min it slipped on.

Well, it is definately a new experiance. Still getting used to it. Is it just me, or does the converter make the truck "feel" like it does not pull......hell I dont know....I will see what the deal is tomorrow, then its off for a dyno tune next week I hope.

If the converter weighs 27 lbs it will feel that way at part throttle because there's no inertia in the drivetrain to help get things moving. That's why most converters are not made that light. At WOT your motor should accelarate faster, deccelarate faster, when you lift and make more horsepower with the lighter rotating weight, but your street manners will suffer. If the stall is performing properly you should launch harder with a higher shift extension. The light weight converter will have a lot more performance potential, but it will take some getting used too, you'll probably want to lower your part throttle downshift speeds to make up for the loss of inertia in the drivetrain.

I tried using some huges stuff because they were relitively close to me. I have one of thier convertors in my truck now, and I'm not too impressed.

I tried to get one of thier convertors to work in a th200 behind a bbc, and I spec'd the stall and everything. I asked for a 2800 stall, and it stalled at 1200. When I returned it, they admitted a goof up and tried it again, promising that if it was'nt right they'd refund my $. It stalled to 1800, so upon returning it they forgot about the promise to refund my $ and instead I ended up with just a credit at a local speed shop.

After this expereince, and checking with other local guys who've tried hughes, I would'nt recommend them at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
