Default Guesses on new 2014 5.3L & 6.2L power #s

I guess
5.3L 375hp 385tq
6.2L 440hp 455tq

GM has to step their game up with all the 380-390hp trucks out there

I think you're a bit high on the 375.
I'm going to go with 350/335 on the 5.3
No idea on the 6.2... I haven't been keeping up on them.

Truck cam selection usually results in more torque than HP so:

4.3L 315/335

5.3L 340/365

6.2L 435/470

I'm assuming the direct inject will give roughly 15ish% more hp maybe 8-10% more tq. They are probably putting a slightly larger cam in with the new VVT

Is this VVT GMs way of cranking the tune up slightly

i do know the 6.2 is capable of 500hp in the car version. so it's not going to be hard to get to an easy 420-430 hp in the truck

GM will have to step up their game to keep from being left behind...even dodge/ram (my least favorite automaker) now has an 8 speed auto with a 300 hp v6 that gets 25mpg. Dodge has recently let it out that a 1/2 ton 3.0 liter diesel ram is on the way with the 8 speed and the hemi will also get the 8 speed in 2014. I will be getting a new truck within the next year and even the ecoboost may get the nod.

I want to see 440+ hp in the 6.2 and 20+hwy mpg before the silverado makes my short list. Might be a stupid move for me to buy the gm before their 8 speed makes it's debut though.

I am wandering why GM has not messed around with dual over head cams. As much as I HATE ford their 5.0 motor is very impressive from factory

Dodge 8 speed transmission sounds like it will have 3 more speeds of problems like the 5 speeds haha
