I saw the commercial for the new Ram 1500 and that was the first thing that came to mind when I heard about the new 8-speed transmission.
I'm very interested in seeing how a RCSB w/4.3L would perform, most of all. It's finally been updated (it's been pretty much the same 4.3L since 96 with only a CSFI spider upgrade in 2001) with enough power to really have some fun in a full size truck...for once. The lower weight isn't much, but my old 98 K1500 w/4.3L was a pretty good handling truck that was very fun to toss around...even though it was slow.

GM doesnt want to make seperate truck and car designs. While a DOHC with its high center of balance would o well in the trucks, that weight up high doesnt fit the focus when used in the Corvette. GM wants a sililar design V8 across the trucks and the cars, the way they always have done it.
The trucks engines production is underway in Tonawanda Engine plant. Rating should be coming soon. They can build a whole bunch of engines 1st then throw in whatever engine calibration in the trucks PCM at a later date.

The 4.3 will not run in V3 mode, only V4 mode as there wasnt enough torque in V3 mode and not enough exhaust flow to keep BOTH banks of cats hot enough.
5.3 trucks get the 9.5" rear axle, the 6.2 gets a 9.625" rear axle assy.
Only a 6 speed auto is available on all engines, supposed 8 speed autos later on.

I was referring to the comment about them being down in power from 326. I know everyone else is making guesses about the output of the NEW engines, then he jumps in and says they are down to 315 from 326. The current ones are rated 315, but not down from 326.
