Not sure if it should be believed yet as pickuptrucks.com has a history of April fools jokes...but they are reporting the 5.3 liter as being 355 hp @ 5600 RPM and 383 lb-ft @ 4100 RPM on 87 octane.

I'm trying to figure out what else, besides hp/tq has changed. the 2014 5.3 has less power than the 2013 6.2, yet has a higher tow rating. Yet, while they haven't released the new 6.2's power numbers they claim it will have an even higher tow rating. I must be missing something.

Power numbers are only a small factor when it comes to towing rating.
Power/torque can be made up by gearing.
Other factors are braking, cooling, suspension, frame etc.

The 2014 GEN 5 L83 5.3 has the same torque rating as the 2007-2009 L76 6.2 in the GMT900 trucks at 383 lb/ft, but the L83 has 51 LESS cubic inches, not too shabby..
1.18 lb/ft torque per cube, that beats the LS7 at 1.1 lb/ft per cube. So if the L86 follows suit, being 376 cubes, the L86 should have around 444 lb/ft of torque. The L86 is supposed to out torque the LS7 under 4000rpm. The LS& outputs approx. 440 lb/ft at 4000rpm, so this starts to make sense.
The L83 5.3 makes 355 Certifed hp, thats 1.09 per cube, so the 376 cube L86 should make around 410 certified hp.
GEN 5 L86 extrapolates out to 410hp/440 lb/ft from 376cubes(6.2 liters) engine, hmm.
The GEN 4 Cadillac L94 6.2 was rated at 403hp@5700rpm/417@4300rpm
I'm interested to see what the L86 6.2 is going to output, and I wonder how the L86 will position itself compared to the Vette's LT1??????????
