guys with a single 4 inch exhaust
I'm growing tired of the 2 1/2 inch duals with bullets and want to do something different, something, dare I say it, quieter. It almost feels wrong to say that but at 65 it would be nice to talk on the phone without saying huh all the time. So I'm thinking a 4 inch. 3 inch would be a waste of time IMO, not that it wouldn't be sufficient, just if I'm going to change the exhaust it can't be something conservative and boring. 3 1/2 inch might be a wiser choice but given the availability of diesel exhaust system for not much $$$ I'm thinking 4 inch is the way to go. I need some input though. Was it worth the upgrade from whatever you had to a single 4 inch? Any fitment issues putting a 3/4 ton/1 ton exhaust on a half ton? Hows the sound? I would assume the tone is very deep given the size. Running the numbers in terms of area, a single 4 inch would have slightly more area as dual 2 3/4 inch pipes but thats not the most accurate comparison of what will really happen either.

I am running a full stainless 4 in, along with a diesel muffler from edelbrock.. It is pretty quiet at cruise, sounds good at idle and is mean at WOT
These pics are with a dynamax bullet. Sounds bad *** at idle, but forget about driving it. The big muff is in its place now

That sounds pretty nice. Are the diesel mufflers more of a glass pack style minus the glass or a perforated tube like the bullets? It looks like your tailpipe was made to dump straight out the back. I wonder how well a NBS 4 inch tailpipe will fit on an OBS? I would think so long as its for a short bed it should fit pretty close, may need to tweak on the hangers though. Do you recommend the diesel muffler or something else like a Magnaflow? As of now I've got no cats but if I went to a 4 inch exhaust I may put one back on and I know that will quiet things down a lot.

Looks like a Diamond Eye Performance 4 inch turbo back system for a mighty 6.5 diesel will be my best bet. I really don't need a turbo back system but the down pipe on the mighty 6.5 is 3 inches which is what I was planning on making the Y pipe out of so I could get some of the bends I need out of the down pipe and then being that its for a 6.5 which is in OBS's it should fit without any issues on my 95.
I'm still open to input and sound clips though.
Whats everyone using for a Y pipe to step up to a single 4 inch pipe? So far this is the best I can find. Not sure how much I like it.
