I bought some used Comp 918's to use with my 212/218 .563/.558 cam and I put them in at 37,000 miles after the warranty expired. They are still going strong at 116,000 miles. I don't let it warm up in the morning either...

Its not cost-effective to replace them frequently unless you are running a non-stock motor.
Used 5.3 ~ $400-500
New springs ~ $150-300
Not worth it.
Are you guys changing them because of the loss in seat pressure or fear of them breaking. It seems like if they are gonna break, they do it fairly quick, No? I honestly don't care much if they lose seat pressure...

If I was still running a stock 5.3 with a tiny cam I would probably not be as worried about it cause I would still have LS6 springs. As a little extra seat pressure is not that important to me either...

I bought a set of used 918 springs with 15K on them, ran them for over 2 years (about 60K at .590ish) sold them to another member, he had them for a year, I got them back, and theyre in another motor now with who knows how many miles on them.... every motor theyve been in was shifted just short of 7K sprayed, turbo'd etc....
