H pipe or X pipe for my new exhaust??

I have an X
but I dont see where it would help
it seems like the exhaust pulses would crash into each other
and slow down
Ive never understood this
maybe balancing each side out makes more HP/TQ...
if you ran water thru an xpipe and straight pipe
of the same length which would have more flow and velocity?
who knows maybe it just slows it down enough so that it sounds better

Its the scavaging effect of the X that really helps. Where exhaust thats already passed through speeds up and pulls the incoming exhaust into the X. A well designed X should make more power over the complete rpm range with more gain on the top end. An H pipe gives benefits at lower rpms allowing pressure equalization between pulses, but doesn't have the top end benefits of an X.

Well I will be running cut outs at the track so maybe the H pipe would be better for me. I am mainly concerned with the sound of it because I really am unhappy with the way my truck sounds right now. I have noticed summit has both an X or H for a good price.
