For most, it's because they're upgrading to something better than a stock LS1 intake... like the LS6 intake, or the LS2 intake and 90mm TB, fuel rails, etc. Drive by wire will cost more too with the different TAC module required to control the LS2 TB.

I have a complete swap over kit that uses a ls2 90mm ssr intake. The advantage to this intake is that you don’t have to change water pumps and make custom brackets to make everything fit. The ssr intake will work I have had it on my truck and tested it out and it works great. The ssr intake will outflow a truck intake and get about the same flow as a ls6 intake but I had my intake ported so now it will out flow a ls6. hear is a list of the parts I have for sale as a complete kit.

05 SSR LS2 90mm intake has been professionally ported

06 Corvette 90mm throttle body

02 TAC

Speartech wiring harness adapter

These are the only parts you will need to make the swap.
I will sell everything for $820 shipped

I would love to buy the set up but I do not have that kind of cash right now.

Is there anything special need when swaping to the ssr intake, will it work with the return fuel system like on my 02? Also what do you mean by 02 TAC? (forgive for being dumb but when I hear TAC I think Tachometer)

TAC
Throttle Body Acuator(sp?) Control
It lets your computer talk to the throttle body.
Anybody going to the 90mm TB needs one. It is located in the drivers side firewall under the support bracket

Not totally true...those of us that still have cable actuated TB's have some far cheaper 90mm options out there
