I originally blew a 2 inch diameter hole out the bottom of my differential casing. It was rebuilt with 4.10's and an eaton. I have since replaced the ring and pinion 3 or 4 times, I can't remember. And my most recent episode I chewed up the spider gears in the eaton. I do run on 33 inch tires, regardless I am currently hunting a 14-bolt or a Dana 60.

OK this isnt reall off topic AND sorry if you think it is but I was wanting opinions on my rear end. I have a open diff and will be spraying 100 wet shot in 2nd gear and up with 16's. Should I really worry about my rear end at this time?

unfortunatly with that big of a tire/wheel combo there isn't much you can do. probably a good one for a 9.5 14 bolt. should be easier to get 6 lug axles made for it.

You can buy replacement 6 lug axels for any 9.5" 14 bolt for $199 each from Superior with rolled splines. The 454SS trucks came with these rear ends and 6 lug axels stock. The 9.5" is a direct swap in after you change the axels over because its a semi-floater and you dont have to deal with the full floating hubs of the 10.5", and i believe the housing tubes are the same diameter and i know the housing ends are exactly the same. I've done ALOT of studying on this lately and im currently looking to find a 9.5" 14 bolt housing for my truck. I see them all over the place on trucks at the dealership and on 1500HD's and plain 2500's.....but i can't find crap in a junkyard

If you can easily convert to 8 lug in the front...i.e. 2wd, then go with the huge *** pig 10.5" full floater. I don't think you could break that thing with 800-1000 hp with 44's. BTW the 10.5" FF's are alot easier to find than the 9.5" SF's. Converting a 10.5" to SF so you can use 6 lug axels is pointless IMO, seeing how you loose the biggest advantage a 10.5" has over the 9.5" and you'll break an axel WAY before you bust that 10.5" ring gear or differential. But if you can't find a 9.5"....it's pretty much the only option you have without converting to 8 lug or going with a custom built rear end.

nothing is bulletproof. we've replaced 14 bolt parts at work in stock trucks and 4L80E's. sometimes parts fail, it happens. they just need to be replaced with the best you can get. this is always something to keep in mind when doing this kind of upgrade. going with more you than you should need isn't always the best idea.

I'll agree, anything can happen...i've had to replace all of the hub bearings in my pops duallie with a 10.5" 14 bolt FF. But it was pretty much only because the fluid level got to low to keep the bearings saturated and they pretty much pooped out. **** can happen, but i was commenting on the fact that a properly setup and maintained 10.5" or 11.5" full floater can pretty much handled whatever you throw at them. I know ALOT of guys that use 10.5" full floaters with 2" shaved off the diff in rock crawlers with 40" tires and about 600 hp. I've never heard one of them complain about breaking anything in the rear and they all compliment its performance. The only complaints i ever hear about the 10.5"/11.5" 14 bolts are that they are HEAVY *** hell and the ground clearance sucks unless you shave the diff.
