i am going with that size cam in a 5.3 and i only going to run a 3200 stall and really that size stall is enough too wake the cam up. and change springs and pushrods i not porting or polishing. my opinion go with the cam and that size stalli wouldnt waste my money on a 4000 my opinion really. and yea the s-10 will move.

I know very little when it comes to transmissions or converters. When I shared my setup with Dave at Yank he recommended a SS4000. I am confident that I will be very pleased with his choice

Also what kind of vehicle are you putting the converter in? (silverado, sierra, S-10??)

the only thing I can see is the valves being to large with a 3.77 bore your going to be close with a 2.02 and 1.57, just dont over heat it hahha

Exactly what I am thinking... I'm not too worried about the exhaust valve size but I am concerned with the 2.02 intake valve. I think that a 2.00 would be alot more acceptable.

Too late now.. I'm going to finish assembly when I get my Caddy lifters and Yella Terra's in. Then when my Yank converter comes in I will start the swap.

Oh yeah... Now worries on the overheating. I have plans to keep temps under control!

its not the normal driving I was talking about ahaha alot of WOT runs in a row and the heat will bend the valves closest to the side wall of the bore, good luck on your adventure and can't wait to see how it does in the S-10, might be my next build heeeheee

a ext. z71 with 160* t stat and got pacesetter lt's on way,and going with the same size cam u are and a 3200 stall and spraying 100 wet shot( which i am spraying already now)... i mean u go with wat u think if u think the 4000 is good then go i just saying 3200 is plenty... i mean u can go too turbotruck.net and click on drivetrain (its parish with the fast *** truck) but he went with a 4000 like they said with yank and he ended up going too a smaller stall and he even says it does better with the smaller one than with the 4000 they sent him..... but ur wanting opinions so thats my opinion.. cause ive had pretty good bit of ppl including my buddy a gm certified mechanic even say 3200 is more than big enough if not a lil too big.

I wouldnt see a 3200 being to big on a lot smaller of a cam. Heck mine does not start pulling till around 3-3500 real strong anyways. But with a light truck and that much stall traction should be real fun. When you get it all worked out it is going to be a mean SOB that for sure.

AKSZ71- I understand what you are saying about the converter.. But I am going to give the SS4000 a shot and see how she goes. If it is too much, it doesn't take too much to throw a smaller one in. *You also have to remember that this is going in a 3100lb s-10*

Thanks for the comments guys!

the converter is going to be fine behind the 3100 light weight, now for a heavier truck it will suck on topend, lots of hp lost unless you get a good converter that you can lock at wot.
