Default Head Job

on a BLOWN motor as well...funny stuff.

Alright question...having my stock 6.0 heads worked with larger valves and porting job, I have a decision to make on how much to mill these heads. Is there any benefit to doing this with my setup (in sig)? I mean the lower the compression the more boost you can throw at it, but .010 mill is not much, but worth what if any? Should you always mill something to clean the "line" maybe?

Mill or not to mill?

Lower compression does mean more boost, but not with a Radix. I am sure that your are close to pushing its limit. I don't think that with a Radix it is worth it. Get a good tune and run the hell out of it. That is just my .02.

milling is going to raise the compression now lower it.... you've lost me there. the stock 6.0L compression is more than fine for the low boost a radix puts out. even with the 2.75 pulley (the smallest i'm aware of) you aren't going to be able to overboost your truck at stock compression. i'd say leave the heads alone and go after other area's.

are you worried about trueness of the head and block surfaces, I think for trueness and to remove gasket material the machine shops normally mill around .003 which is very negligable. Could be wrong though Im not a machinist.

i know, that's what i meant...by nature of getting a head job they should like 02sierra says mill the minimum to make sure surfaces are happy...but they ask if you how much. I didn't know what the max of milling would be before I would run into problems...errr limitations to my setup. I am not having the heads milled because that's a mod I want, just trying to figure out what the limits are.

I had my 5.3 heads staged 3 milled .010. Then I got the 6.0. More Performance said my setup would work fine with those heads...so I kept them instead of putting on the stock 6.0's. Now I have kr like crazy with out injection and something over 93 octane. Plus I have a journal leaking...but nevertheless...just interested in where is the "line" for a compression ratio and the raidx....if anyone knew.
