Question Header Durability

I was thinking of buying a set of headers, ebay special, and possibly having them Swain coated. The thing I'm not sure of is how well they hold up in Northern Minnesota. Any one live in an area with similar weather and temp variations with headers installed? I've been told that the heating and fast cooling in the cold winters can cause gasket failures. Anyone with experience or any info would be great.

Are the stainless ebay headers better than the pacesetters for the money? I was thinking the stainless was the way to go, because I don't want to do the install more than once.

I'd agree on the stainless. Don't know about the quality of the ebay parts (no links please) but I'd look around for some used ARH or Dynatech, AS&M etc.

I've had my ceramic coated Dynatechs on for almost 60k miles & 5 yrs. No issues w/. gaskets or stainless. Nor should u have issues w/. quality stainless headers. Any of the brands be said are good. Coating has lil surface spots, nothin serious, just not perfect. It's from salt & ever how many heat cycles, & not wiping them before I drive it again. I just get in & go. In a place like TX, the coating would be void of these minor spots. Minor, very minor. It doesn't affect performance, cause u can prolly touch your hand in 20 mins to the headers.

I got a set of AEM lt's that have held up pretty good. I am holding off and buying some ARH or better stepped headers when i get to build my 375ci iron block.

fastrt, I think TX doesnt have the harsh winters that they salt the **** outta our roads here.

On another note, I didn't know AEM made headers for our trucks.

I have heard several stories of the pacesetters rusting from the inside out in the harsher environments....even with the coating on them
