Wrapping headers also helps on maintaining heat inside the headers while allowing the exhaust heat to flow fast through the piping.

Was told that wrapping the headers can wear them out fast.
Any validation in this? What about wrapping ceramic coated headers?

Most companies will not warranty headers that have been wrapped. It does help with under hood temps but I guess the tubing would naturally run a lot hotter.

what make the tubing wear out faster when wrapped? more heat not being let out of header? would what heat it would keep out worth the work?

I had to wrap the headers on my BBC 71 Camaro so it would quit melting starters lol. It doesn't get driven very much though, so I'm not sure of the damage to the headers yet?

Wrapping the headers will cause molecular structure changes when they get very hot. Eventually the wrapping will be ONLY thing holding the piping together, should you pull it off you will have holes emerge in the piping due to aggressive corrosion.

okay, Thanks. if I bought a new set of headers and warped them. I wounder what the life of them would be? 2 years 5 maybe? I'm still 50/50 on doing this.

Well the mini starter only lasted 3 months the first time and 1500 miles. Since I wrapped the headers, it's been on there over a year and I've put about 6000 miles on it. It definitely helps with the heat control.
