Default headers

quick question and i hope its not a stupid one. But by any chance would ls1 headers work on new chevys and gmc trucks? I know that they do fit 02 to 06 but what about 07-09 trucks. any info would help.

Not gonna fit without cutting and welding. they also don't fit very well on the earlier trucks I've never tried it but have heard there were issues

If you're going to try them on an 09 good luck. The headers for the 07/08 trucks won't even fit the 09s. The "Y" pipe is different. They've added what appears to be a 3rd cat(shaped like a cantoulope) and they've switched from a flat 2 bolt flange to connect to the muffler to a male/female half round connection that uses a collar to hold the two sides together. I don't know of any header manufacturers that have picked up on this as yet save for Dynatech who just went to a Chevy dealer yesterday to check this out. They're going to have to modify their "Y" pipe to get them to fit the 09s.

We are working on this problem. We are waiting for an 09 truck to modify our Y-pipe. If your going to use an aftermaket catback our system will work the catbacks have'nt made the change yet to accomadate the newer style either. But if your going with the stock stuff you will need to wait for the updated system. Unfortunately GM does'nt notify us of changes in advance,we have to find out the hard way but we are working on it.

Tom brings up a good point about the catback. If you plan to swap to a different catback or have already made the swap you can use the 07/08 system on the 09 Silverado. If you wait until the upgrade to the half round connection is made on the "Y" pipe you won't be able to swap your catback unless the people who make the catbacks upgrade their flange to match the current 09 flange. What a nightmare and what the heck is the 3rd cat looking thing on the "Y" pipe anyway?
