Default Headers or no?

My truck is completely stock engine-wise with the exception of a K&N going on soon... I am also putting exhaust on the truck and wanted to know if headers would be a decent investment at this time. I know with my TA the headers really didnt help until the cam was put in. Will the stock manifolds due for now or should I just do the headers...

I would go ahead and put them on, I had some Edelbrock Shorties put on, and you can definently tell the difference up top. Plus if you do it now you wont have to do it later. If i had to do it agian though, i would go with Arizona speed and marine long tubes.

Headers are worth it anytime. I would get a good set of longtubes, however. I have Thorleys and I really like them. Dynatech makes a good set, as does ASM and TOG.

Don't waste your tie with the shorties. Go with the TOG's, thier build quality is second to none. Get them coated somewhere local and it will save you a little cash.

Definitely going with longtubes.... Dynatech is what Norris told me I should go with

Another question... LT's and Bullet mufflers with cats.... anyone heard/running this setup. I have a set of Dynomax Bullets I'd like to use.

I still have cats and a magnaflow muffler. Im thinking of replacing my cats with bullets. Ive heard F bodies with LT headers and cats with bullets. Its pretty loud, but sounds awesome

Talking

just remember the more you free up the exhaust the more power you will need to push to take advantage of the loss in low end.

I've talked to many people on here, and a lot of people locally in performance shops, who have told me that Dynatech Supermaxx longtubes are the best way to go as far as headers. ASM's are a bitch to install from what I'm told, and Supermaxx's just have the best power gain's.

No longtube header is easy to install,do a search and yu will see what i mean.Anyways supermaxx are not coated and the underhood temps are much higher,so if you go with them,do yourself a favor and get em coated. Also why pay $1.300 dolllars for that setup, you are paying a extra $600.00 for cats and a y pipe. When the factory cats are allready pretty high flow.Anyways i noticed a large gain in tq in the lowend department with my assm headers,i tow alot and the diffrence is huge.

So would I be better off then using longtubes, y pipe with cats and bullet muffler or running longtubes and a true dual setup with cats and bullets? Good point that I don't want to lose the low end torque....

Any suggestions on mufflers then? I have the bullets but may change them out for something else.. no catback systems tho.. I am only looking for mufflers (I'd go with a B&B like my old TA if they sold only the muffler)
