Default Are headers worth it?

Is it worth it to put headers on a stock, 20 year old, 305, with almost 200,000 miles on the clock? Besides, I have an exhaust leak that needs to be fixed and thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the exhaust all together and put in a new one anyway.

If you have plans to someday replace that tired old 305 with a stronger small block someday, you'll be kicking yourself for not getting the headers when you had a chance.

Just thought I'd check and see what some other ideas were. Apparently they're the same as mine.

Recommendations?

I've heard that Hooker's are good.

I say Heddman elite hedders($265) and a header collector back pipe kit for about $110 from Jegs (dynomax pipes) and just throw in whatever mufflers you want. Yes there are cheaper ways, but if you plan on doing a 1st gen stroker engine or something comparable, this set-up will already be in place.

That's kind of what I was wanting; to have something that was already in place that would be good enough for a nice healthy small block.

Does Dolly Parton sleep on her back? Does a hobby horse have a hickory dick?
