Default Heads up for UPD intake users

Check to see if you MAF sensor is hitting the underside of your hood when you close it. I was changing oil and noticed the hood insulation had a rectangle-shaped cut/indentation in it right above where the MAF is when the hood is shut. The top part of the MAF (where DELPHI is stamped into it) has been in contact with the hood ever since I put it on.

The fix is simple, just loosen the clamps and twist the top of the MAF a ¼-turn so that it's out of the way.

Funny you should mention that. I was changing my oil last night and was looking at the insulation under the hood. I was like what the hell is that indentation from. The numbers are all rubbed off the maf now. I did the same, twisted the maf so that the top points towards the firewall.

I take it you didn't read the instructions first.

Yeah, I didn't read the instructions the first time either and started getting a little upset that my brand new intake wasn't fitting very easy.

I finally decided to go step by step and poof it went right on no sweat....Well, actually quite a bit of sweat because it was 104° outside.
