I had the heads done on my 5.3 by a guy that's been racing and building motors for the past 15 years. I've seen the car he built run 5.60s in the 1/8th. When he talks I pay attention. He says the porting does the trick and the polishing is just eye candy. Kept the stock valves with a 3 angle valve job and 918 springs. Dynoed the truck before and after. It made 26 hp on motor but it felt more like 50 the first time I drove it. It made 36 more hp on the same shot of juice and I dropped 3 tenths in the 1/8th.
So I am not off my rocker for what I was saying earlier...

Sweet, was that using the stock cam?! If so, I will probably spend a week and pull my heads off to get them worked on, well in maybe 2 to 3 months when I can afford it.
If you are going that far down, I'd go ahead and do a cam swap at the same time...but cam swaps are pretty easy on the GEN III vs an old SBC so that's really up to you.

That's right... I am on:

DFWStangs.net
Ford-trucks.com
Impreza.net
LS1Tech.com
LS1Truck.com
Fullsizechevy.com

I used to run a mid 8 sec 1/8mi '88 TownCar years ago and got on the DFWstangs site, I still know a lot of people there, have a new SBF project, and the wealth of knowledge is unimaginable there...besides it is turning into more of a general hi-po community for N. Texas.

Don't be hatin' please as I go Bow Tie, Blue Oval, and Import!

You sellin GM or Ford parts?

Oh yeah a bud of mine on that site has a '98 Z28, '84 Stang w/ 351W and Vic Jr heads (runs 7's in 1/8!), and a '95 Mitsu for daily beating. So he lost his mind like I did. lol.

grey silver: did you raise the compression any? It made that much of a difference? Did you do any before/after track times w/o the juice?

A friend is selling his 02 Mustang and I'm pullin' all the goodies off. I'll be posting over there later this week.

Didn't change the compression and I always spray at the track. Last time I smoked a Mustang and a SS. There was another SS that I got by a nose. I just love pissin' those guys off.
To get the most out of the heads you need a cam and some headers. My truck pulled better in the mid to upper rpms after the head work.
