Default Heavy Duties

It seems with the tranny swaps, etc that it would be easier (and maybe cheaper?) to just get a heavy duty instead of a normal half or 3/4 ton. I know the reason people don't is the added weight in these trucks.

But what exactly is the weight difference? Does the 4L80E come in 1500 HD trucks? I'd imagine that it would be lighter than a 2500 HD, right?

Whats the weight/cost differences between a 1500, 1500 HD, 2500, etc?

yes the 4l80e comes on the 1500hd, only comes in a CC though.

IMO, HD is the way to go. 5450lbs for a 2500hd 2wd

yeah see thats the thing. after a tranny and rear end swap, i'm wondering what the weight difference is. probably still a lot, with a strong rear and tranny
